Since many years we are helping young physicians and nurses professional training, supporting them with scholarships. Thanks to your donation Chiara can now meet valiant co-workers. We hope they themselves will promote further projects and enterprises, in order to improve Bandundu sanitary position.

Besides to be the place where Chiara lives, medicine lessons are carried out in G. Riccio house. Together with Chiara we wish to adapt some of the rooms to realize an operative base camp, the Insieme a Chiara Castellani onlus local branch. With the purpose to lodge voluntaries, to facilitate Chiara work, to create an equipped reference point for site projects and communication. Presently Casa Riccio hasn’t any electricity nor flow water.

Every year we collect medicaments, drugs and medical instruments to supply the health centers and the diocesan pharmacies located in our area. In case you work, or if you know somebody working in the sanitary field, or if you want to offer us anything you got, please refer to the following list

Kenge-Kiwani medical centre became the reference pole in AIDS cure and prevention and provides daily support against undernourishment diseases. The facility isn’t supplied with electricity, running water, or important medical instruments. For this reason Doctor Chiara’s and her staff work can’t be efficient. Together we can achieve a change.

KENGE-KIWANI CENTER

There are villages In Bandundu living in complete isolation, outposts unreachable by transport, lacking of hospitals or primary structures able to grant the right to life. So for many women pregnancy is a challenge, a journey, where they have to walk kilometers searching for a medical centre able to help them. Help us to be present in the country.

BIRTH ATTENDANCE CENTERS

In many prisons around the word lack justice, medical care and basic necessities. In 1996 Chiara Castellani highlighted Kenge prison situation. It is a place which hosts about a hundred persons, forced to live in very bad conditions who need medical care. Help us to build up a fist aid station.

Scholarship

During the years, and thanks to the benefactors support, Chiara Castellani established the schools ITM and ISTM (medical technical school and medical technical graduate school) to train young nurses and physicians.

When Chiara arrived in Bandundu in the first ‘90th, she was confronted with an almost nonexistent health situation. The help she got was from people who hadn’t any professional instruction.
Chiara taught us that, in an area where at beginning nobody was able to award a high level degree, to invest in education is a tangible contribution to local development.

Now, after twenty years of effort and sacrifices, and we are proud to confirm Chiara is no longer alone.

For the academic year 2013/2014 we already granted 67 scholarships.

We will continue, because we met young physicians and valuable nurses who dream to provide free and efficient health care throughout the whole area.

To grant to a ITM or ISTM student a complete academic year € 200,00 are necessary. A small contribution which will became continuous heath care for thousands of people.

We are not speaking just of numbers, but of boys and girls with their histories, efforts and dreams.

Nevertheless many areas cannot access to health care, help us to train the medical resources.

Moanza Medical Technical Graduate school

Moanza ISTM is a Technical medical college, which was born inside the old mission walls.

ISTM target is to train, both from intellectual and professional point of view, all people who aim to became doctor or medical assistant.

Every year about 200 student coming from Moanza, Kimbau and Kwilu are hosted in the college.

Moanza is a 500 residents’ village, about 550 far away from Kinshasa and 200 from Kenge.

Most Moanza inhabitants are poor, and live of farming.

Many students are already mother or father, others are aged nurses whose graduation is no longer recognized by the government.

The academic year lasts nine months, divided in two sessions.

Presently Moanza ISTM provides a very good instruction, thanks to the commitment   of teachers and students; unfortunately goodwill is often not enough. We want to supply everything necessary for didactic work and scientific activities.

Our targets are:

  • To supply high level professional training
  • Support to teaching, supplying IT kits and library
  • To help students with scholl expense

Help us to achieve these targets
